The Scottish Deerhound-----the Royal Dog of Scotland----is certainly a picture of beauty, grace, and strength all wrapped up in a most loving package. These wonderful dogs are worthy of their description that Sir Walter Scott gave them long ago......" a Most Perfect Creature of Heaven"......yet are certainly not for everyone. While very loving and devoted to their owners, they need lots of exercise both as puppies (in order to develop to their greatest potential) and adults (in order to keep them healthy and in condition, so that they may live a long, wonderful life). They are quiet in the house and happy to snooze all day in your company, yet take them out running, and that's where you'll see their true beauty emerge. A Deerhound in full flight is a breathtaking sight, and these creatures, like any other sighthound, are truly happy when they have the opportunity to run and fill their lungs with fresh air and the thrill of the chase.
We are captivated with this "pearl of the sighthounds," and with this website, hope to share with you, our experiences with them.
Enjoy!
